Any Less You with Douglas W. Milliken
January 19, 2026
Douglas W. Milliken and I have been at it for more than 20 years, getting weird and making good things together. Last June, a few months after his very good and deeply personal memoir Any Less You was published, we sat in his basement in Saco and talked for over three hours about his growing up in Aroostook County, memory, grief, the nature of our own friendship, and, naturally, how music is integral to his writing and creativity.
A literary and sonic deepdive with one of my favorite authors and best pals, this conversation is full of honesty, beautifully written words, some hard things, and plenty of goofs and spoofs because, even in spite of all of those things, that is our way.
Highlights include:
Owls, Dirty Three, The Plaster Cramp
